Happy Healthy education CIC
Happy Healthy Education began as an idea for promoting yoga and mindfulness in schools in response to the mental health crisis pre-COVID-19. Since first forming as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2018 HHEd now works at the intersections of yoga, psychology, sport and the outdoors. We look to nature, self and community in equal measure in the never ending pursuit of wellbeing. We are all about improving wellbeing for children and young people in Cornwall, whatever that looks or feels like for different bodies and from different starting places.
Our platform is slowly growing into a community of likeminded parents, local charities, businesses and education professionals. Co-founded by secondary school teacher Dr Andrea Blair and senior yoga teacher Helen Clare, the main HHEd event is a full day conference at The Eden Project featuring a wide range of educators and other professionals. Our first event was in March 2019 and our next event will be held on Saturday 14th May 2022.
Helen has since moved on to focus on her own yoga businesses and Andrea continues as sole director, balancing the development of HHEd CIC with her family and work commitments. Originally from Northern Ireland, Andrea is a secondary maths teacher and doctor of education. Her work to date has encompassed the development of thinking skills in teaching and learning, promoting growth mindsets in teachers and students, and (un)learning ethically responsible approaches to pedagogy.
Andrea has worked tirelessly in improving pastoral work in schools since the beginning of her career in Exeter and subsequently spent five years setting up a charity school for children in a poor community in North East Brazil which now provides opportunities for over 500 marginalised children. She now lives and works in West Cornwall and is a mother to two young children. She can often be found enjoying a good stomp along the South West Coast Path or in the ocean.
HHEd is small, but the vision is big – join us in the never ending pursuit of wellbeing for children and young people in Cornwall.

The core Building
Our keynote speeches, workshops and talks take place in and around The Core Building. Offering four different indoor spaces as well as outdoor workshops and an exhibition floor, the design of this unique building is based on the structure of a sunflower:
“Designed by Jolyon Brewis of Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners, the Core is based on nature’s architecture – what we call ‘biomimcry’.
It incorporates a central trunk and canopy roof that shades the ground and harvests the sun. The most striking feature – the roof created from an intricate web of curved timber beams – is based on Fibonacci spirals, a pattern found in many natural forms including the seeds of a sunflower head, pine cones and snail shells.
At the centre of the Core sits Peter Randall-Page’s monumental Seed sculpture based on these same natural patterns.” (Find out more from the Eden Project website)
