The happy Healthy Education Conference 2019
The Eden Project, Cornwall
The Happy Healthy Education Conference 2019 was held on 29th March 2019 at The Eden Project. We hosted a full day of workshops, exhibitions and speakers from a variety of backgrounds. Highlights included the wonderful Charlotte Levene of Young Minds who spoke to us about the impact of social media on the mental health of children and young people; and pro-surfer Sam Bleakley who shared a thought provoking talk about mindfulness and surfing.
We also hosted a panel discussion about yoga and mindfulness in schools, welcoming Venetia Mayman of Yoga in Schools, MiSP’s Ben Chalwin and Dr Tim Cook alongside teacher Arran Langdon and Class Yoga founder Helen Clare. Other workshops included Shona Pye of VINE, El Warren of BF Adventure, Charlotta Martinus of the Teen Yoga Foundation, Rose Webb of Thrive, Vicky Otter of Innate Connection and Sam Kendall speaking about Outdoor Education at The Eden Project. We had a session on mindfulness through art and stories for wellbeing from local artist annie b. and a session representing SEN and yoga in schools by local teachers Bess Revell and Vicky Tremayne. We were delighted to welcome actors from Useful Psychology working under local psychologist Dr Emily Jane who shared insight on connection and co-regulation with teens as well as Ben Chalwin of the Mindfulness in Schools Project and Christiaan Stirling from Emotional Logic. As well as all of these incredible contributions we also had a large number of exhibitors from local and national organisations, including the Sowenna Foundation Trust, working to promote wellbeing for children and young people.
Huge thanks to our sponsors Class Yoga, Kernow Adventure Park, First Wave Adventures, Mount Hawke Skate Park, Thrive, Archie Browns Penzance and the Cornish Vegan Pasty Company for their support!
